The city of Rockford was originally founded on October, 2000 as Wintertown. Since July 4th, 2004, it has adopted its present-day name as part of changes brought upon by the fact that the former Peace Colony has now became the state of Rockford. The Rockford state government chose Rockford as its state capital.

The state capitol was completed on September 27th, 2004. It serves as seat of the state government. State government is probably considered the city's largest employer along with the township government.

Rockford is the center of much-larger metropolitan area that consists of numerous small towns such as Fancy Farm, Copton, Casion and Reading, Oakwood, Green Acres, Zechon, and et cetera.

The city and its surrounding areas has been served by Interstate 75 and Interstate 24, connecting Rockford, now-defunct Vectropolis, and every other towns within the metropolitan area. The Interstate 75 also connects the area to far-away towns within Phin County such as Hicks Town and others. Interstate 175 is currently under construction and will ring the city once it's completed.
